Subject: visitor visa for parents - rejected

I am a permanent resident of Canada and I have been living in Canada for 3 years. My parents recently applied for temporary visitor visa(3 months) and they got rejected.

To my understanding, we´ve prepared all the required documents by the embassy, including my parents´ income proof, property ownership, bank statements, as well as my employment letter, pay stub, NOA from CRA, bank statements, etc. Even though my parents were both retired, but they really don´t want to stay in Canada, since their parents, friends, life are still in China, they will definitely go back, but obviously the visa officer does not think so.

Could you pleaes advise what else I should prepare to convince the visa office? We haven´t seen each other for 3 years...yes, I can go back and visit them but that would only be 2-3 weeks since I have to work...I just wanted them to come and stay with me for 3 months and enjoy the summer here, the only intention for them to come is to visit me and see how I am doing in this country, I am sure they won´t be willing to stay here!

Any sugestions would be highly appreciated!

The issue with the Visa post was you invited your PARENT "S" instead of one then the other after one went back. I know its a team and you would want them both their first time etc. etc. but going slow is always a better way especially if your parents have not traveled much.

Roy is right, inviting both of them together is never a good idea especially when they haven´t travelled much before. Good Luck!

Thank you both Roy and Mike!

I´ve been reading some forums and learning from the others experience...Do you think it would help if I add some information(or a letter) to their application, i.e. the applicants both have parents to take care of, they are social activities and ties with the society, etc.

Since I am working full time and studying towards my professional certification in mean time, its harder for me to arrange a trip to go back, even its 2 weeks in maximum. I just want to see them after 3 years and show them around...do you think this will somehow help a bit?

My last resort would be applying for them one by one, but I REALLY wish they can come together for summer!

Thanks for your input.

I have seen the CAIPS record for some sponsorship cases that have been refused in Beijing and I have to say that the immigration officers there are pretty rough. You might have to go to the federal court/your MP/Media to get things done.Bombard the visa office/regional manager/Minister Office with letters.Write letters to include with the application, and pile up the documentary evidence to put pressure on the immigration officer. If someone applied for a student visa and was refused and 10 years after that he would apply as a sponsored spouse,Beijing will consider that as "pull factors" towards Canada.they work systematically and don´t really pay attention to the particular circumstances. This is where you need to catch the immigration officer for error in assessing the facts, applying the law, discharging their duty for procedural fairness and anything in between.

Thanks for response!

Could you pleaes adivse where I can obtain the CAIPS notes? I´ve searched on CIC website but did not get a clear idea of how this can be done. There are some agents can do this on our behalf, but it takes long - 5-6 weeks.

As a permanent resident(not a citizen), can I still contact the MP for assistance? Even the MP is willing to help, it is not a guaranttee of visa issurance, am I right?

Somehow I think the visa issurance is a subjective matter, which makes it harder to predict and prepare because there is nothing too much we can do to reduce the inherent risk! :)

I look forward to your input.

Much appreciated.

Hello!
My friend just brought his parents both" MOM AND DAD" with no problem from Jordan, and they got the visa for 5 years as visitors.
So i think it doesnt matter if you send the invitation for 1 or 2.

Can somebody please advise what the steps are to check CAIPS notes?

If I wish to obtain assistance from MP, how does that work? I´ve called but only reached auto-response, or should I write emails? Usually how long will it take to get any feedback?

It will be highly appreciated if someone can shed some light!

Thanks in advance.

To 0507

If you want your MP to support your visa application (please note is just to "support" it, it doesn´t guarantee you´ll get it), all you have to do is contact their local office, tell them you want them to support a visa application on your behalf. They will ask you to provide them with a copy of the affidavit (invitation) you´ll send to support the process yourself, a copy of your residence/citizenship status, and prove that you live in the area (utilities receipt or Drivers licence with address). You also have to tell them the exact date the application will be submitted to the embassy.

What they will do is they will fax a letter directly to the canadian embassy supporting your application, on the exact same date that the applicants will be submitting theirs. The applciation and the MP letter will be filed togheter for study.

Hope it helps!

Thank you for your clear and detailed post, Proud Canadian!

I think I will try both MP support and CAIPS notes, even though there is no guarantee...It worths trying every resort that we can think of because it really means a lot to spend a summer together with my parents - after 3 years!

I appreciate the input from all of you! Wish us luck! :)
