Subject: Adding wife to application OR sponsor ?
  Hi,
I have applied for Canada immigration in 2005. Since I was applying for Quebec, I applied for CSQ in 2005 which I got in 2006. In 2006 I applied for PR and they (CIC) told me that it should take 2 years. So I´m "expecting" to get the medical and then the PR this year. But this year my marital status will change. I will marry my girlfriend later this year. The obvious question that arise is; what should I do?

The options are below:
1. Get married and then include my wife in my application.
2. Get the PR, land in Canada and then marry my girlfriend. Afterwards sponsor my wife.

Since I applied through the Nairobi office which is the slowest immigration office; I would like to know what is the best thing to do.

Personally I´m seriously thinking of going with option 1. I want to be with my wife and don´t want to undergo the pain that most people have endure while sponsoring their parter/spouse. But what is bothering me is the delay that it will add to my application. Since the CSQ + PR took 3 years does it mean, if I add my wife to the application, it will take another 3 years?

Any advise is welcome.

Please help.
Anticipated thanks.

You must notify CIC the minute you get married. IT IS NOT AN OPTION.

Add her to the application. you won´t want to live apart and the application should not take that much additional time.

If I add my wife to my application do you have any idea how much delay will it add to my existing application?

I seriously doubt that. To get the CSQ alone it might take 6 months, at least. Anyway thanks for the info.

adding a spouse does not put your application back to the beginning which is what you are suggesting. That I know for sure.

you are the principle applicant and the only one that CSQ is interested in. Your spouse and her skills are irrelevant. All CIC cares about with her is medical, security checks and verification that the relationship/marriage is genuine and not for immigration purposes. Both medical and background checks come after I.A.

Get your wife added on before medicals are called for and I highly doubt you will add much time at all to your entire processing.

Sharon,
Do you mean that I don´t need to apply for the CSQ separately as it is done in Spousal Sponsoring?
Also if I want to include my wife which documents do I need to send CIC?

Thank you. You put a smile on my face as I was worried I will have to wait another 3 years before I can get to Canada :)
