Subject: Need you advice
  Friends,

I just got my immigrant visa for Canada and planing to move there in 2-3 months.

Need your advice on the followings

1. I am planing to open my own business? what are the legal requirements for this since I will be just a permanent resident and not citizen.

2. In my business I will be required to travel on regular basis to USA and have some business there too. Will I need any kind of visa or work permit.

3. Can I get a US work permit based on my residency in Canada.

Please feel free to reply me at nicehearted_boy@yahoo.com

Regards
Sachin

1 as a permanent resident you are free to open any sort of business (as long as it is legal) that you like. No special restrictions.

2 depending on your country of origin, you will still be required by the US to hold a visitors visa when travelling.

3 depending on the business activity, there may be some kind of provisions through the NAFTA agreement.

Option 3 I believe is valid for canadian and mexican citizens only, can someone confirm that ?
You can get a US work permit, but you don´t have any significant advantages because of Canadian residency.

Sharon and Raj - thanks for your valuable comments.

so my understanding -
for doing work in US - I will require a Business visa

but on business visa one cannot work legally? Is there any other option I can use.

I have H1b in USA but it is employer specific BUT I want something Where I can work independently for any number of employers. I want to see that can I leverage Canadian residency in any way for this.

What is the best you can suggest me getting what I want
