Subject: Study Permit Funds Requirements
  Hi Folks

I have been accepted into two-year M.Sc. program at the department of computer science, University of Saskatchewan, with funding for the September 2008 session.

The financial support is in the form of a Faculty Scholarship / Graduate Teaching Fellowship for a total of $16,000 per year. I will also be eligible to apply for additional Teaching/Lab Assistantships through which I could earn up to an extra $2,000 per year.

I´ve got all the stuff ready to be attached with my study permit application, the only thing bothering me is how much bank statement (proof of fund) should I include with my application so that my application won´t get rejected.

Since I have ample funds from the university, do I need to show funding from myself in the first place?

Any advice is highly appreciated.

People with funding usually get visa without any problems.

You need to show at least CAD 10-12K for your living expenses in addition to the tuition. As per my knowledge CAD 16K will not cover your living and tuition both. Also, CAD 2K will only be counted if it is a guaranteed support not if you could obtain a teaching assistant position. You should also show strong ties to your home country.

Samm is absolutly right, people with approved funding usually get visas without any problem. Calculate the total expense per year and try to make a statement which would cover the remaining amount for your expense there. The more the better. The other convincing factors such as ties to your country etc. are already there so you cant neglect them.

As a Graduate student in Chemistry at University of Alberta, I just submitted the financial support letter from the University and had absolutely no problems. Then again, my letter had about 22 000 written on it (cannot remember how much exactly ´cause at U of A graduate income grows :) )

Hi, i´m planning to apply for Seneca college for advanced placement program. Just wondering is there any issue of refusal visa according to college?
