Subject: sharon or roy ... dependent child issue
  hi,

i sponsored my parents and submitted the application oct of 2006. My youngest sister who was 20 at that time was included in the application since she is a dependent child. I reviewed in the CIC site that a child is considered dependent if she is under 22.

Now, she is turning 22 on August, and I want her to stay in the application. she visited canada for 3 months during school break and went back to the philippines to finish school.

what do we have to do for her to stay in the application. i think that our application will be processed in Mississauga this year.

Hoping for a complimentary response

The key is in the definition "FULL TIME STUDENT" do not show employment unless it is related to education and you can prove same.

Dean... ask your sister if she´s interested in taking her master´s degree or another bachelor´s degree. She should be dependent to your parents until such time PR is issued to three of them.

If you didnt received approval yet for the in-Canada part then you are still looking for more than a year...

Dean...

She should be financially dependent to your parents (or you). If she is working then she will not be considered as dependent anymore except if work is needed to complete her studies (i.e. OJT).

thanks Elopez.

so the best way is to let her enroll another course after finishing the first course she took

Dean,

Her status as a student has nothing to do with her status as dependent child.the "Lock-In" date is when the application was received by CPC-Mississauga.If she was under 22 at the time, she is a dependent child as long as she is not married or in a common-law relationship.
