Subject: Landing in Canada
  Hi All

I am in US and received a letter from Canadian Immigration that they asked for my passport to stamp the PR visa. Can anyone tell me that for how long the PR Visa is granted. Also do I need to land in canada before my Medical and Police Clearance expires or after getting visa I can land in canada anytime.

Thanks in Advance

you must land within the time limit indicated on your visa - usually 1 year from the date on your medical exam.

Kumar,
Usually when you send your passport to stamp, you get a visa for about 4-6 months. You need to land within this period, and its not related to your medicals once you have got the visa stamped in the passport. I landed a year after my medicals expired.

The validity of PR visa is one year after the date of medicals except when the medical validity has been increased by CIC.

This usually happens when your medicals are about to expire but your file processing is also complete. In such a scenario they either can increase the validity by few months and issue the PR visa or ask you to undergo medical examination again and issue PR visa after the receipt of second medicals.

In any case the validity of PR visa is indicated on the visa sticker itself.
