| Subject: Scope for a Software Engineer in Canada |

Hi, we filed our application for immigration to Canada on Apr 7, 2008 and now are really disappointed after the sudden proposed immigration law changes. Can anyone tell me how are our chances as a Skilled worker if we applied from Buffalo, USA and the primaly applicant has around 7 years experience as a Software Engineer with North American Clients. Any response will be appreciated.

why are you disappointed - if there is jobs available in your field of expertise, under the new rules you will be moved to the front of the line instead of waiting in line by application date.

Yeah Sharon, actually that is the reason for our dilemma....we dont know the job opportunities for a Software Engineer/ Computer Engineer in Canada..I mean i know that doctors are in high demand but are engineers too? That is why anyone who knows about Skills in demand in Canada can help us, I know that right now nothing is clear until more instrctions are issued but atleast by knowing about the job market, we can decide whether to wait for Canada or try other avenes like NZ, Aus etc.

there is still a fast track program for IT but it depends on the skill set.
