mmm why dont you ask somebody what they think about Roy? I smell something else behind this message... Lets say you are being honest, dont you have any brain why dont you do your own business yourself? There are hundreds of people who applied for immigration only by being honest, and smart ...and I beleive there are a lot of nice people here who give their help without asking for a cent for their service....

Hey "didnt buy" I didnt ask you anything :)

About Roy, I "know" him, not personally but from this forum, I am asking them about others,

You dont even have a basic culture, this is forum, where people share their experience and thoughts

I recommend you: Go to work and earn some cents because you worth not more than a penny :)
CANADA IS NOT FOR YOU :)

Dear Speedoflight,

Many people have asked similar questions before... and it always comes down to what it is that you feel comfortable with...

Many (as our friend ´didnt buy´) will be quick to tell you to do it yourself... that the process is easy and that if you are smart, organized and good with forms you should have no problems... and at the end you will have some extra money...

Others will tell you that they rather have the security that having a representative offers.... one of the advantages of having a rep is that you can have an expert to answer all your questions and perhaps offer you peace of mind...some people are able to afford the fees easily and rather have someone else do the paperwork for them... but be aware... many times you will still have to do some of the work needed even with a representative involved... in many cases they just check and file the application for you and receive the mail from CIC... you still need to come up with all the documents required and fill out all the forms....

I did my application on my own... After reading and reading and reading... I decided to do it myself... It took me few months to collect all the required documents... (both my husband and I have lived in 3 different countries)... collecting papers from far away is always a challenge... this is the most difficult part... collecting all the documents required...

After you get all the stuff you need, you must double check, then check again to make sure you have everything you need...

Some people have special situations or circumstances that require professional attention... things like prior criminal record or something like that... that will require some expert advice to sort out...

Sometimes, the representatives can help you find a job in Canada... (I´ve heard about that here where we live, UAE)... this could be a big plus as it will help you get more points and saves you time... or you know... they could also explain to you how to go about getting confirmation from HRDC... I never knew how to go about doing this... had I known how to do it I could have gotten extra 10 points and could have had my application processed in less than 6 months!... but I think getting a job and have an employer wait for you before you apply is not easy to do (in most cases)...

Any ways... what I am trying to tell you is that it is ultimately up to you and only you to decide what to do...

This forum is an excellent source of support and help... most people are very friendly and ready to give their best advice... many have had similar experiences and speak to you based on them...

You must do you homework and decide for yourself what´s best...

Good Luck...

Hey speedy dont be funny okay? Those who can not fill an application form without others´ help can not recommend anything to me or others.. First learn how to fill in a simple form and then I will listen to you and take your recommendations...( Of course I am damn sure you are not applying for immigration or anything else you are trying to ADVERTISE ...What? or Who ? I am damn sure you know the answer!!!!

Canada is not for me? lol That is right, I am for Canada, not the other way...

Just wanted to point out that Lily provided a detailed and very eloquent posting of when it´s appropriate to use a consultant in applying and what it takes to do the application process yourself.

My take. I agree that consultants have their place in some situations for many people. But the need has been overstated and impression left is out of balance. Often the view is that the process is just too complicated to go it alone, and chances much improved if you hire someone and pay thousands to do it for you.

Simply not true. Anyone with a semblance of intelligence and willingness can do just as good a job for himself, if not better and more accurately. And no fear of being cheated, misrepresented, or even doomed by an incompetent representative. Why put the future in someone else´s hands and then hope for the best? CIC has laid out the process for the individual to easily complete for himself.
