I am planning to relocate myself to Halifax, Canada

Does anyone know about life and job oportunities there, are people friendly, I personally find people in toronto are cold and not friendly ,

I personally love Halifax. The location is stunningly gorgeous, the people are incredibly friendly, and if you like fog (I do), the weather is great. I find Haligonians (and Nova Scotians in general) to be some of the nicest, most open, and down to earth people I´ve ever met; it is a very different scene than Toronto (which I also love, though in a different way).

The job situation is another matter, however, and it´s what´s keeping us from making the leap to Halifax. Whereas we find the city vibrant and seemingly well off, jobs are tough to come by and the pay may not be what you are used to coming from Toronto. The few jobs we´ve found in our field have paid a fraction of what we currently make, and we´ve become pretty discouraged on the idea of living there. If you can find stable work, however, the cost of living is also a fraction of what you will be used to in Toronto.

One more point about Halifax is that it´s very isolated, an obvious fact from a map but if you are coming from somewhere central like Toronto, you might find that you feel very far removed from the rest of Canada (and certainly other cities). This is an entirely personal reaction, and perhaps it won´t have any effect on you. In balance, the tranquility of PEI, the wildness of New Brunswick, and the loveliness of Nova Scotia are at your doorstep, a far cry from the smog and congestion you are used to in the GTA.
