Hi, I´m a Canadian living in Japan, and I was just wondering if it´s possible to sponsor my wife and son to become premanent residents of Canada while I stay in Japan and work to support them. My son is eight, and doesn´t speak a lot of English, so I´m hoping that he can live in Canada for two years to learn to speak English well, get to know my side of the family better, and get to know Canadian culture/lifestyle better, since he will have to choose which country he will become a citizen of when he´s eighteen.

The problem is that the sponsorship form says I must intend on returning to Canada. Is there a way to get around that, or would immigration make an allowance in this case?

no allowances given.

you will need to be moving back to Canada for them to consider your application and there will be a time limit for you to land.

Thanks for the reply. How long is the time limit for me to land?

More questions. (in reply to: Spousal sponder)
How long would I have to stay in Canada? Is there another way my wife and son could live in Canada for two years while I support them from Japan?

are you a citizen or permanent resident of Canada. If you are PR, you have residency requirements you need to be thinking about.

I am wondering what sort of job you must have that you can support 2 households? You may also wish to consider the emotional hardship on your family to live seperately. A child needs a father more than he needs a choice of citizenship.

I´m a citizen of Canada. I´m an English teacher, and I work for a few different companies, as well as some private lessons. The money I make here would be enough to support two households, but were I to go back to Canada, I´d be stuck with whatever job a highschool graduate could get, and that probably wouldn´t make enough to support my wife and son.

Abusive sponsor (in reply to: Spousal sponder)
Hi I have a friend that is in processes of getting her residency papers for herself and 2 children from a previous marriage. She and her children are being sponsored by her canadian husband. They have a baby together who is canadian and born in canada. My question is the husband is extremely abusive not physical yet to herself and her children he has thrown her out on the street many times and keeps the baby from her. She is terrified he will do something to keep the baby and is afraid to leave as she was told if she did leave with the baby that would be kid napping she feels trapped is there a way she can stay and not has him as her sponsor or is there a way she can leave without the fear of being accused of kidnapping. I know the police have been called and she and the children baby included were removed from the home.

Any information would be greatly appreciated
