Subject: Applying from within or outside of Canada |

Hi there,
I am currently residing in Canada and am on a post-graduate work permit valid until the end of July. I am planning on applying for common law status with my common-law boyfriend as sponsor relatively soon and would like to know which would be the most suitable route to take i.e. either from within or outside of Canada.
I have heard that applying from outside of Canada is much faster, however, is this limited to having to apply from your country of origin, or can I apply with region-specific forms (as part of the application) through the Buffalo office (still outside of Canada). I´d also prefer to apply with the right to appeal in case anything goes wrong.
My other question would be - what would be the primary difference in applying from within or outside of Canada -is this mainly the timeframe? In terms of continuing to work here in Canada, I would like to know how my status would be affected - is it possible to extend my post-grad work permit by any means, whilst the common law application is in process?
I hope you can assist me with my queries.
Thank you.
