Subject: vistor to study permit in canada process
Subject: apply for initial study permit witin canada
Hello Experts.
I am a indian citizen currently in canada on a visitor visa.
After getting letter of acceptance from a canadian college.
I prepared all my documents and mailed it to Vegreville Alberta.
I made a big mistake of mailing my application to Alberta instead of mailing to the buffalo consulate in US .As i got confused with the eligibilty requirements of people who can apply from within canada. and taught a holder of a multiple entry temporary resident visa(visitor) of more than 6 months can apply to alberta but As per the cic guidelines it states that holders of temporary resident permit(formerly known as minister?s permit)of more than 6 months can apply to alberta for an initial study pemrit.

I still have two months in hand before my status as a visitor gets affected.
My application has just been deliverd to alberta and i have not heard anything from them as of today i.e., 10th dec 2007.

Now, i belive i may receive a letter from alberta refusing my apllication on the grounds of eligiblity.

so instead of waiting for a reply from alberta office. I want to send all my documents to the buffalo consulate by mail in US.
So that my application is processed well before my legal status as a a visitor gets affected.

I need advice on the following things :

1)Should i mail my apllication before i receive any letter from alberta office.
If yes, then will i have to mail in my original passport instead of a copy to buffalo consulate to get it stamped with a study permit.

I would appreciate all the advice i can get here from the experts serving this forum on my case as soon as possible so that i dont losse my status and complete all the formalities before my status get affected.

you asked the same question only a few hours ago.

from my understanding you must apply for a student visa in your home country.
