I´m kind of confused as to whether or not I can retain my permanent residency if the following happens:
Let´s say I get my permanent resident card in February (I don´t know when I´m getting it for sure but I know it´ll be within the next couple of months). In June I go to another country to study and spend four years there. However, I´ll spend my vacations here in Canada which means 3 months out of the year I will be in Canada, plus the whole fifth year. Can I still retain my permanent residence if I do this?

(in reply to: Can I lose my permanet residency this way?...) 730 days out of 1825 - period.

(in reply to: Can I lose my permanet residency this way?...) so the 730 days can be in any combination right?

Can I lose my permanet residency this way?... (in reply to: Can I lose my permanet residency this way?...) How does the Candian Govt know how long a PR card holder remains in Canada?
How can a PR Card Holder find this information? Eg. How long he/she has lived in Canada.
If a PR Card holder goes to the US via Vehicle, and remains in the US for say 1 month and on the way back to Canada, Immigration does not ask for her PR Card, how does Canadian Govt know if the PR card holder was in US for 1 month?
thx
