Subject: Submitting proof of work experience
Yet another question for the people out there.

Applying through the skilled worker program. I´ve gotten as far as filling in my work experience history. The Buffalo checklist says you haveo to support whatever documentation to back up your claims. So here is the question, if I am unable to provide anything to backup my claims, references or work contracts, should I just omit putting it in the document, or should I attach a written statement as to why I am unable to provide any documentation to prove my work experience.

Please advice.
Cheers

You should submit a proof for your work experience..otherwise u should apply in another category..How come you claim that you are a skilled worker and u don´t have evidence?

I can provide reference for my current job here in Canada. But all my other jobs were in Europe, and they are giving me the run about and not being all that helpful, so I cant wait forever. Thats why I´m asking

You have to provide proof for all the experience you claim. If you cannot get proof, do not claim it.

So, just omit putting it in the document.

I disagree. If you have legitimate experience, by all means let CIC know, and submit a written explanation why you can´t provide a letter from previous employers showing your work history. It is not at all uncommon to not be able to provide letters from every employer, particularly if you have worked in various locations or have worked for many companies. Many places of business do not keep employee records longer than 7 years, or as required in their location.

You ought to have pay stubs, tax forms, or some other proof of your participation in the employed population. Perhaps you can think of some alternate proof of previous employment instead of only focusing on what employers can provide for you. If you do not have tax forms in hand, they are usually available through the government (if your employment history was in Europe, leave yourself enough time to acquire the documents).

Do not shortchange yourself just because you do not have standard documentation. CIC surely knows that prospective immigrants have traveled many paths.

I was in the same situation as you are. It was impossible for me to get all the proofs requested in the job category. What I did was to summit a letter explaining why I could not get them and also I added the addresses, telephones, faxes of the companies (you can even get them from their websites) as well as the names of my ex-bosses just in case the officer wanted to investigate by himself. I do not know how many points they gave me in that category but I got the permanent residence. Also, I did not take the IELTS exam. I just claim the points and gave evidence about my proficiency in English.
