Subject: Sponsorship questions
I am a Canadian citizen living outside the country and I am currently in the process of filling out the application to sponsor a member of the family class. The principal applicant is my spouse with no dependant children. My questions are:
1. Do I need the documents for the questions 17, 18 and 19 from the Document Checklist from Part A of the sponsorship application?
2. Can a family member ex. mother or father be a Co-signer on my application forms?
3. Do I need a co-signer? Is it better if I have one?

It would be nice if someone could help me answer these questions.

RELAX No co-signer is necessary and Income is not an issue when sponsoring a spouse or dependent child. Now I suppose I have to look up what those documents are.

Well an option C would be difficult to get because you decided not to do your income taxes correct????

Do them get the Notice or the Option C do not worry about the employment letter etc. Fill in the part of when you intend to return to Canada and PROVE your relationship.

Option C printout (in reply to: Sponsorship questions)
Hello Roy,(more details)
I?ve been a resident in Germany for 3 years. I?m married to a German and we are now applying for permanent residency for my husband. (Me being the sponsor). Question 17 of the Document Checklist asks for an original Option C Printout. Not knowing what that was I called Revenue Canada and they informed me that I haven?t done a return. (Only one) They also didn?t realize that I wasn?t a resident anymore. I didn?t think to call Revenue Canada when I left, wasn?t working in Canada so I didn?t think it mattered. My questions are:
1. What year does the Option C Printout have to be?
2. I?ve been filling taxes with my husband in Germany since I became a resident here and started working, do I still need to send an Option C Printout seeing that I haven?t worked in Canada for 4 years?( I read somewhere that the Option C Printout was only for the most recent year which is 2006). In that case it would not applicable to me.
3. Will the fact that I haven?t done my return affect my sponsorship?
I am applying for the sponsorship from out of Canada so they will see in other documents that I have been living abroad because I have to proove it. Because I can?t provide the most recent taxation year( as stated in the Document Checklist do I write a letter providing an explanation or does that simply not apply to me?

if you did not declare your family when you immigrated to Canada you will not be allowed to sponsor them and you will also be at risk of losing your citizenship for misrepresenting your status.
