Subject: UK citizen and spouse sponsorship
  Dear all,
I have known my fiancee for some time now, and after spending the summer together, we have decided that we want to be together permanently. Having read the various topics on this forum I have come to some conclusions. Apparently, if we get married, which we plan to do, my wife who is a canadian citizen will be able to sponsor me via the spouse sponsorship program. I am a UK citizen with a Bachelors degree from a London university and my fiancee is currently about to embark on a course at university in Canada. Since coming back to the UK, we have both been really struggling to be apart and want to get together as soon as possible. We would not like the prospect of waiting for my Permenant residence to be accepted before being together. Thus I plan on flying to Canada when she starts university on a visitors permit and then spend some time together before getting married there. I understand that PR can be applied for via 2 routes. Firstly the inland application which takes nearly a year but the benefit is that a preliminary approval after around 5-6 months grants me the opportunity to start work or study there. A disadvantage is that once the application is being processed, I will have to remain in Canada, which is not a problem for me as this is what I want. However, if for some unforseen reason I need to return to the UK, there may be some issues. The second and apparently much faster route ( 30% application complete in 3 months; 80% in 8 months) is the outland route which mean applying via the UK office. One thing that I have read it that you can apply via the outland route while staying in canada on a visitors visa but problems present when you may be required to attend a meeting in your home country and thus you would have to incur the cost of flights. In addition, I have read that once back in your home country, you may not be able to return until your application for permanent residence via spouse sponsorship is concluded. This may be a problem as this will mean spending time away from my fiancee.
I have to say that whilst there is alot of information pertaining to my situation located in forums such as these, I would greatly appreciate your thoughts on my predicament. I really hope that this all works out for us, it would mean everything. I do have worries as I know that this transition to a new life in Canada will present its own set of problems that will need to be solved. Such worries include the prospect of getting a job. I have been educated in London UK all my life and completed studies up to a Bsc at a top London university. I do not however want to pursue a career in my field which is based around subjects such as Cell Biology, Physiology, neuroscience, psychology etc.. It is s reputable degree here in the UK but I am unsure as to its worth in Canada. The skills that I have developed are valuable to many careers including those related to Finance and Business. I was wondering if anyone might have an opinion on this. In addition, I have researched into the prospect of studying for an MBA in Canada. I understand that once granted PR I will be able to acquire a loan via OSAP in order to complete my studies. This is just an idea at present but I would like to hear your thoughts on this too. If there is anyone out there who can offer any advise to me, it would be greatly appreciated
Finally, I would just like to thank all of you who have presented your predicaments and success stories relating to your experiences with immigration to Canada. Just reading these gave me hope that one day soon me and my fiancee will be together.

Thank you for you time and Kind regards

weigh the Pros and Cons (in reply to: UK citizen and spouse sponsorship)
If you apply inland you can not work or study. You are assuming that the file will be approved in 8-9 months. If you are called for an interview the process will be much longer.

Inland you can use your time to research the labour market, have credentials evaluated, review graudate schools.

On the negative side if your wife is in school will you have enough money to both live on?

Overseas is faster. In IRPA there is a section of the act called Dual Intent. A person seeking permanant residence may also enter the country as a temporary resident.
