Subject: US Citizen to work in Canada |

My son (2 and half year old) and I are US citizen and my wife is Canadian citizen. I have to relocate to Toronto due to work. Few questions in this regards:
- As far as I know my son is eligible to obtain Canadian citizenship through my wife. Is that correct? Should I apply for his Canadian citizenship while still here in US or should process once I am in Canada?
- Do I need to get a work visa?
- Should I apply for Canadian immigration now before going to Canada or after being in Canada?

Your son is elegible to obtain Canadian citizenship through your wife.
You cannot apply for citizenship yet, you have to apply for a permanent resident status first.
Then after aprox. 3 years of living in Canada as a permanent resident you may apply for citizenship.
As a Permanent resident you have most of the rights of a Canadian citizen, this includes the right to study, live and work anywhere in Canada and leave and re-enter Canada as many times as you wish as long as you comply with your residence obligations.
You may need a work visa or aka work permit in order to work in Canada if you are not a permanent resident.
You may apply for a Permanent resident status from abroad. Actually is faster and safer.
