Subject: Issue with Work Exp. Points
  Hello,
I need some info. regarding the points issue that has came up with respect to my work exp. I had worked as a retail operator (salesperson) under co-op work term in 2001. My stupid lawyer did not indicate this in my immi. file as a result i was just given points for a yr exp which is not true i have altogether 2 yr exp. here in Canada.
My lawyer says that my retail operator job does not fall under Skill 0, A or B i am like what the hell as i always thought whatever exp. you have counts for immi. but it should match with the NOC. Can someone please provide info. on this as i am stuck with 65 pts. and need to mention my immi officer to calcuate my 2 yr exp. so that i can get 67 pts.

thanks

Why going to a Stupid Lawyer?
Why not reviewing the to be submitted papers by yourself?

Your lawyer is not wrong (in reply to: Issue with Work Exp. Points)
Hi Hans: Unfortunately your lawyer is not wrong. Points for experience as a skilled worker can only be given for occupations under the Noc in level O, A, B, Your job in retail would be at a level of the NOC lower than a B occupation so it is not counted when factoring points.
Section 80 (2) of the Immigration Regulations states under the general category of Experience "For the purposes of subsection (1) points are awarded for work experience.... that are listed in Skill Level type 0 Management Occupations A or B of the National Occupational Classification Matrix"

Do you have the 67 points needed. If not see if there is another way to get them such as getting an Arranged Employment offer. Good luck, Camilla

Hello Camilla,
Thanks a lot for your response. I agree that my retail operator work term is not counted for as it does not fall under NOC 0,A,B.
This was my very first exp. here as a co-op student i will really disappointed that my hard work did not pay me off i should had checked NOC before accepting the job my bad lesson learned.
Now, is there any possibility or cases where i applicants had a similar situation then how could i explain this to my officer n request to consider my co-op term counted for pts. Frankly, some my friends who graduated with me did not face this problem as officer had given them every single pt. for their work exp dont know why.

Edu & Exp. points calculation (in reply to: Issue with Work Exp. Points)
Hi to all,

I like to ask two questions regarding education, experience and Card No (# 17 item at form)

Education
----------
I have completed education like:
1) 2Years Software Diploma in Computer Science
2) BSc Statistics.
3) MSc Mathematics (Industrial and Business Mathematics)
(including few computer courses such as Data Structure and C++)
4) More than five international certifications on J2EE (java) platform.

As I have overall experience in Software Engineering so should I apply on the basis of diploma or master MSc Maths (as 16yeras of education)?

Experience
----------
I have worked as:
1) Programer / Analyst Programer , NOC ???
2) Development Team Lead, NOC ???
3) Java Development Manager, NOC ???
4) J2EE Software Architect, NOC ???
5) Project Manager and J2EE SA., NOC ???

Could anyone please help me out what should i choose a best NOC code for individual work experience? should i mention my whole career history or just mention last one?

Card No.
--------
As mention at form that you have to mention your card no. is that same which my country has issued me as National Identity Card #?

I will appreciate if anyone takes some time and answer on above questions.

Yours Truly,
JK

Work Experience (in reply to: Issue with Work Exp. Points)
Hans are you on a work permit now following graduation from a Canadian school? If so are you working in NOC occupation o,a, b? If you are could you get an arranged employment opinion from your CDN employer in Noc 0,a,b which could give you the points. What points did you lawyer submit your application with. Regards,
