Subject: help is needed
  Hi all,

I am a permanent resident in Canada, and my girlfriend came over to visit me as a tourist, (there is no visa requirement for visitors from my gf´s country to come to canada as a visitor for 6 months) ... To cut it short, we want to get married in Canada and live together, is there any way to let her stay here longer? She has to leave Canada 3 months later)

thanks in advance

yes, get married and begin the sponsorship before the 3 months are over or have her leave and return so you have a little more time to think about it.

not sure if you can apply to extend the visa or not - someone here likely knows the right answer.

You and your fiance could consider applying in Canada for permanent residence once you are married. You would have to extend the visitor visa status of your girlfriend during the process. The immigration officer will review the applicatin and supporting documents to determine that the marriage is genuine. Another option which may be faster in terms of proceesing times (depending on the post abroad) is to submit the application in the visa office for the home country.

Good luck
