Hello All. I want to know what exactly i require to open a bank account in Vancouver. I have applied as a SW and am yet to receive the visa. When i land for the first time, i would only have my passport and i have heard that SIN card and PR card takes about a month. So my question is that how can i open an account so that i can transfer my money before this 1 month delay. My second question is: DO i have to bring all the money with me when i land for the first time, or can i open a bank account in canada and then transfer the money. My third question is: If my wife brings in gold jewelry, do i have to have the receipts for it? Thanx a lot in advance for your help.

2 pieces of identification - one needs to be your passport. You will need to bring a bank statement with you (and tell them your plans) and sufficient cash to get you to through the transfer. It sometimes can take several days- perhaps even a week.
You do not need receipts for personal effects.
