Subject: DUI 4th degree in the USA and immigration |
Hi!!!
Does anyone know if the 4th degree DUI in the USA(with the arrest, license suspension and the whole shpiel)can get in the way, when you are appling for the permanent residense in Canada?

(in reply to: DUI 4th degree in the USA and immigration) yes. DUI is a serious offence in Canada and will require proof of rehabilitation. Unless rehabilitation is proven - I think it is 5 years without another incidenta and a formal document from the government (not sure of the exact wording), this person is inadmissable.

(in reply to: DUI 4th degree in the USA and immigration) If you are no longer drinking and can prove same you could be deemed rehabilitated. Lenght of time from offence date etc.
Try crossing the border and informing them of that fact. It depends on several factors including like no pardon in the US.
