| Subject: Spousal Immigration - Financial Requirements |

Hi,
I just read in a post that someone said if your applying for spousal immigration you don´t even need an income...does anyone know if this is infact true? I am a canadian born citizen, my husband is Egyptian and we are in the slow process of doing our application and I want to find as much information as possible before submitting anything to avoid delays, mistakes and to gather any tips on how to be successful, speed up application times, etc.
We recently had a meeting with an immigration lawyer here in Cairo and he told us that I would need to have a co-signer to meet the financial requirements as well as to show proof of property as I now live in Cairo with my husband until immigration is completed.
If anyone has been in this situation (especially in regards to dealing with the Cairo Immigration Office) or has any information for us it would be so greatly appreciated. Thanks! Shoukron!

there are 2 forums immigration.ca and roadtocanada.com that have members going through Cairo.
Income is not required for sponsorship unless you are sponsoring someone´s children at the same time. However, you must show that you are intending to return to Canada with some sort of proof - a house, a job, or whatever you can provide.
You may want to rethink your choice of immigration lawyer.

Is that lawyer a Canadian Immigration Lawyer? Canadian Immigration is a specialized business and involved skills in interpreting the Immigration laws and Regulations of Canada.
I do not know where in the Immigration Regulations you have to show proof of property.
