Excellent post and needed, thanks for providing this. Very sobering for starry-eyed skilled workers breathlessly planning to immigrate. I see this is actually from the Canadian TV network, CTV.

I think Departed_Canadian would be interested, as it well supports his experience and views. Wonder what Raj, Balwant, and others think.

I also wonder if this is balanced. I´m thinking of Bill, who recently posted of his success story. Yet I continue to see similar stories about adaptation difficulties in my local paper, Chicago Tribune.

Finally, yes, quite a clean-up after the 30-years war. Agree that it was needed. Although, inexplicably, some threads were innocent exchanges (DC´s). But I think we should now rightly limit our discussions to relevant immigration issues at hand and stay on topic.

Richard,
That is what I was saying all the time and what did I get for expressing my honest opinion?
You know because you were here but those new to the site would never know because the posts were Deleted.

The Canadian Government recognised all the Third World qualifications through the Immigration Department that is why Skilled Workers are admitted as immigrants.

But it is a different ball game when they land here and began looking for jobs that suit their qualifications.

I do not want to say more, I want people on this site to give their own honest experiences.

All are welcome to share their experiences, whether bad or good.

Balwant, we have heard your personal view but what do you tell your prospective clients?

If you go back 20-200 threads this topic has been covered at least 20 times. It is not a new discussion and the debate rages on the exact same way that is does now. It comes down to attitude, effort, opportunity and personal skills. Every experience is different. True in any job hunting environment, immigrant or local. Canada, US, Germany, Austrailia, or Guyana

Not sure why Balawant is asked to shoulder the intent of this thread. Broken Dreams is the author and rightfully bringing to light diffuculties of new Canadian immigrants that even Canadian TV is making a big deal of.

If it were just a common issue seen everywhere in most other countries, I don´t think Canada´s second largest TV network, CTV, would be highlighting it the way it has. I´ve also seen many newspaper articles discussing Canadian immigration and adaptation stories, but hardly ever about U.S., Australia, Britain, or New Zealand.

Even though this problem has beeen told and rehashed many times, it´s worth keeping the issue on the front burner for awareness. Skilled-worker professionals need to know that even for them it´s not always a bed of roses coming to Canada.

What else should I say more Richard? Probably earlier you didn´t read or watched all of my references. The same video links I posted before (see the 2nd thread). Anybody still has any doubt in their mind about what is waiting for them should just listen the words of ON Img. minister Michael Cole; I posted that more than once, even in the last week regarding to Mary´s case. "It is something inviting for dinner and them feed them with crumbs or let them to wash dish". It says everything, I can´t express the situation in any better way. What did ex Fed. minister say? Simply unbelieable. He knows the system is broken...needs to change... but when? This was more than 2 years back, did we see any change? He was told like "isn´t it a slap in our face"? Did he care a bit? No. Why? Answer lies even in the reaction of some wise citizens here. They always try to disregard this issue as if it is a trivial matter. Did you notice his consolation? he didn´t think any job is menial or lower. This is the most likely scenario which he told in a twisted way. Anyone shouldn´t have any doubt that the Fed Govt. absolutely has no idea about what they are doing. Dear prospective immigrants, these are not the "Negative" "Pessimist" words from the loser immigrants like me. Came from the 2 top immigration officials of Canada who are advertizing worldwide that they deperately need immigrant and promising bright future. This is the most likely future. How can a Govt. play such dual game without any resistance? I earlier posted another Ryerson University research paper which tells how the reputation of Canada is diminishing and gave a few alarming stat of how Canadians are leaving their own land for jobs.

Another guru even amazed me more 2 days ago by saying; "Don´t listen to the negative postings....be positive". What a nice enthusiastic word. They should realize that if you pretend to be blind then storm wouldn´t stop. There is difference between optimism and fantasy.

I´m even willing to overlook the hypocracy of granting Skilled worker based on their foreign credentials and then denying them job for the same foreign credentials. How about the ones like me with US/Canadian degrees? How inferior do you think a lady´s expering having British degree and many years expreince in the UK (see the VDO)? There are many thousand with such US, Europeans, Australian degree. I´m curiously waiting for the day when a brave spokesman like Mr. Mallonick will host a report on us.

So according to Sharon the job situation is same for Canada, US, Germany, Australia or Guyana??? Well said. Just very curious about the speech of the ministers. Why did they say something like that? The minister of ON, the job heart of Canada! I quoted that many times but never heard any reaction from my "Optimists" friends.

I always think Canada is one of the best place to live, it has tremendous potential with abundant God gifted natural resources. Problem is it is being ruled consecutively by some ineffective Govts. who never took any affactive effort to boost the economy.

Good videos!

I think the most important message that come out of there is that you should do your OWN RESEARCH before landing. I can´t believe those people did not do that but of course if they were lied to, how would they know ?

From my experience: what happened to them is what happened to me in the US, I did a big mistake because I did not do my research before coming here thinking US is the land of opportunities. Even though I hold a work permit visa, what I do here is well below my qualifications and why did I get a H1-b because no American can do the job!

Anyway learning from my mistakes I spent about one year doing my research about what to expect in Canada and how to get a job and I would recommend everyone to do the same I guess everyone would agree on that.

And then success stories will prevail.

No futher Comments. I am sure if I give my comments on this matter, it would either be Deleted within a few minutes or a long drawn out never ending Debate will start.

You have to be careful how you give your views now, because certain individuals have special privileges with the webmaster.

Having innocent threads deleted is making this forum a big joke, no wonder some jokers are addicted to this forum.

And look who was talking about Racism and Discrimination?
