Subject: Crossing Border
  hi i live in states and i got my PR last week. My friends are going to visit Toronto this weekend and i thought of joining them for my border stamping. They are going in a Rental car but i am going to tell the officers that i will stay there for a week to apply my health card and SIN # and coming back to states to finish my project and going canada back in JAN

will it be a problem? i mean going with my friends in a Rental car.

please Advice me.. thanks in advance

Not a problem at all. Here one member made the landing by bicycle, believe it or not!

Just don´t forget about your list to follow stamping by the Canadian customs.

Be careful about applying for health care and then casually leaving Canada for an extended amount of time.

Ddepending on which province, there are requirements for how many days you´re allowed to be outside the province during your health card initial waiting process.

In Ontario, you cannot be absent for more than 30 days in the first 6 months to qualify for OHIP health care after 3 months wait. And you must be physically present in Ontario for 5 out of the first 6 months.
