Subject: Immigrant visa duration for canada PR
I recived PPR in july, but couldn?t send passport. Sending now in Sept. Assuming they returned stamped passport in mid Oct and my medical expiring in Nov, I will have just one month or less to land? Can I ask them to give me additonal time when I am sending passport? or should I wait to see how long is the visa stamped, and then request them to extend if it is too short? Will they extend visa after it is stamped? Thanks in advance for your suggestion/advice.

NO! You must land before your medicals expire or else your visa will become invalid and you will have to re-apply from the beginning!!

I suggest that you go in November and complete landing formalities, and come back to where you are to take care of the things before you finally move to Canada. This is the only option. Dont waste your time requesting more time or asking again on this forum. I am telling this with my own experience!

Thanks for replying. Someone posted on this forum that they (Buffalo office) sometime extend visa by 3 months upon request in certain circumstances. Is that true? I hope they do so as it will be difficult for me to land by Nov when my medicals expire. I´m ready to redo medicals, although it is additional expense but can´t help.

Extension is very rare. Do the landing comeback and move once you are all set.
