Were you CONVICTED in a UK court ? (in reply to: border checks)
Matthew:

Simple question......were you convicted of an criminal code offence , in a UK court ? If yes, you MAY be denied entry to Canada, even as a visitor. IF not criminally convicted, you are admissible to Canada.

How would they know, here in Canada? Computers are everywhere today and Canada shares information with the UK and vice versa.

Question......What in your mind , is a "long stay visit " ?

Canada allows United Kingdom citzens to VISIT Canada for up to six months a time, BUT you can´t do any work for pay here, during that time, and if you don´t leave at the end of that six months time period, you will be subject to arrest and deportation by the Government of Canada.

So, how will you support yourself here in Canada ?

Get medical accident insurance, for sure (in reply to: border checks)
Matthew:

I strongly suggest that you buy accident medical insurance for the time that you are in Canada. Snowboarding can be dangerous, mate. As a visitor to Canada you don´t qualify for our NHS.

Check the internet for "canadian medical insurance for visitors ". Or check with the travel agent that you are buying the airline tickets from.
