Subject: Change of employer?
  Hi..
I am working on a 2 year work permit right now, doesnt expire before 2009. But it is locked to 1 employer. He knows that I might be leaving and he is fine with that because they have had a slow season so far. And he is willing to help.
But, from what I have found out when changing employer I need to do the whole process over again. Is this correct?

I am not sure what would be the fastest way to apply for a new LMO, and wait long, long.. or from what I read, I can also send and application for change of status??? What would take the longest?

Application to Change Conditions, Extend
My Stay or Remain in Canada (IMM 1249)

If you are currently working in Canada, you may wish to extend your work permit or change employers,
or you may be a temporary resident who wishes to work. In either case you must obtain a work permit before
you begin working. Normally a work permit is obtained outside of Canada before coming to Canada. Only
in a few special situations, which are outlined in this guide, can an initial work permit be applied for within
Canada.

But, one of the new potential employers said that they heard it might be a loop hole in regards to the long delay to receive the LMO from service Canada.

They said someone told them that if they give you a job offer on a letter, you can take this to a Canadian consulate abroad or in the US.. and they will handle it on the spot.

Anyone heard of this..
Right now the waiting time is 70 buisness days most places for the LMO opinion
So it would for sure help to know how I can start working for my new employer since they want and need me to start ASAP.

If you are on "Arranged Employment" unfortunately you will have to go through the same process again.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Yeah, thats what I thought.. My problem is that the waiting time for a new LMO is over 70 b.days in BC.

And thats just bad..

I am in the sam process, was to start my new position but was unable bcos of LMO. I finally sent my WP application to vegerville and i am on the 40days waiting period. Bottom line the sooner you start your LMO application the better

Does Canadian employer need LMO for IT worker who is already in Canada thru other company? It is worthwhile to note that IT worker is exempt from LMO till Sep 2010.
