Subject: Is this trouble or not?
I am sponsoringh my wife outside Canada. We have just arrived in Canada to set up the new house, and my wife is here on a 6-month tourist visa.

The Manila visa office has just requested her passport. Others have suggested that we make a copy of her passport for her to hold, send the original passport to Manila where hopefully the visa will be approved, and then ask them to send it back to Canada where she is temporarily staying with me. After that, we would return to her country for a visit and then do her official landing with her visa.

In your opinion(s), do you think this might work, or could there be problems with getting the spousal visa approved while also traveling on a tourist visa?

I don´t want to get in trouble for something I didn´t know about.

Thank you,
Nate

If you dont want to risk anything and if you can afford, send your wife to Manila and have her go to the embassy or mail it to them. There will be no problem.
