Subject: Landing process
I am planning to land by driving from Buffalo in a rental car. I have the following questions :

1. Is there a US Border control which I need to pass before entering Canada? Do I need to surrender my unexpired I-94 here ( similar to when flying out of US).I have a valid I-94 and H1-B visa expiring in 2009.
Or where exactly I need to surrender my I-94? Is it when I return back to enter US? And then they will issue a new I-94?

2. I read somewhere in the forum that the SIN is getting issued on the same day, if I visit the center personally with all the documents Is it true?

If someone can provide their recent experience for landing by road driving from Buffalo, it will be very helpful.

Thanks,
SS

Hi SS

1)You dont need to Submit your I-94 to the Canadian Authorities and you have to keep the I-94 with you
and you have to show it if you are comming back to USA at the port of Entry in US border no need to show I-94 to Canadian Authorities.

2)As per my knowledge is concerned They will not give you the SIN number in a day. It will take one week to get it.
