Subject: immigration process question
after reading your post i finally decided to discuss my case
2 years and 6 months ago i aplied for the PR in the embassy of bogota colombia i did applied thought a company i sent all my paper and information on it after 3 months i got a letter with my file number on it and say it that my paper are in a queue awaiting assessment and also it says that all aplications are processed according to the date on which they are received.
we cannot respong to request for the status of your aplication until it has been assessed.(we are currently assessing files received 52 weeks ago)

The date of the aplication shows on the e-client october 7 2004 and it says in process.

1.-When i will be able to get my medical form?
2.-It is been almost 2 years and 6 months (131 weeks in the queue) i would be able to request for a status of my aplication on the embassy of canada ?
3.-i got married 1year and 6 months ago that would be one of the factors for them to leave my aplication on stand by?

If you haven´t received your Initial Assessment IA response yet, then your file is still in queue and all you can do is relax and wait.

Once you pass the IA, then you´ll receive a communication asking for medicals.

You can email the Canadian Embassy and ask for your application status but if your file is still in queue, then they cannot provide you with any useful information.

Marriage shouldn´t affect your waiting time. However, background check may delay it after you receive your IA.

You MUST advise CIC about your change in status. If you want your wife to join you, you must add her to the application.

you can order CAIPS notes to see what might be holding things up.

Initial Assessment is an assessment of your eligibility to apply for residence visas under a specific visa class (e.g. Skilled Worker.) Simply, they´ll check whether you provided documents supporting your claim that you have the required number of points.

For CAIPS, you can check: http://www.caips.ca/faq.shtml

CAIPS is short for ´Computer Assisted Immigration Processing System´. It is the computer system used by Citizenship & Immigration Canada to process visa applications, and holds all the information on the current status of every immigration application being processed by overseas offices (i.e. those outside of Canada).
