Subject: Applying ForPR - Few basic queries
  Hi Freinds,
I am planning to apply for a PR (Skilled Worker) for me and my wife. Just started the process and I have few questions. I would appreciate if anyone could answer these.

1. Currently I am in USA on H-1 Visa. Where should I send my applications form?Buffalo Office?
2. Am I eligible for simplified application process?
3. How to pay the Fee in CAD or USD?
4. What is the current lead time to get a PR?
5. I am confused about number of Police Checks. How many Police Checks do I need to send along with the application form?Do I need to send Backgroubd Check from FBI too?
6. Can I pay the required fee in USD?
7. Can I work in US with a Candian PR?

Thanks in Advance
Rony

(in reply to: Applying ForPR - Few basic queries)
1) if you will be in the US for 1 year you have the option of Buffalo or your country of birth
2) if you are sending your application to Buffalo, it requires the long for application (supposedly because this embassy is faster)
3)if you are going through Buffalo, they give you the US dollar figure. all other embassies require Canadian funds
4) 18 months on average
5) you need a police clearance for every country you have lived in for more than 1 year
6)only if you are applying through Buffalo
7) if you have the required US documentation. however, you will be required to meet residency requirements in Canada to maintain your PR status.

all answers I have given can be found on the CIC website. check FAQ

1. You have to be legally admitted for 1 year which means you get H1B for 3 years you can apply as soon as you land in US (in theory).
5. You need PCC for all the countries where you have resided for more than 6 months and should not be older than 3 months at the time of submission.
