Subject: CA Articleship
  Hi all,

I have two questions

1- I have done CA articles (four years of practical training with Chartered Accountancy firm as registered trainee student) should I count that experience when applying for immigration?

2- Should I take IELTS test before applying for immigration or I can take the test later on?

Regards

You are applying for Permanent Residency, right?

The whole point of IELTS is to proove that you have good knowledge of English. If you don´t take it, it is up to an officer to assign you the points. I don´t know if there is any point in IELTS after you get PR...

Faisal,

Your title sometimes doesnt matter. Check the duties and responsibilities you carried out when you did your CA. If those match with the duties and responsibilities of CA in Canada, you are good. However, Registered trainee seems not bad but I am not sure about the student part-- They may not consider it a fulltime position!!

You must take IELTS before submitting the application if your first language is not English.

Here one thing I would also like to add, training as part of degree requirement is not counted towards work experience. For example, Canadian co-op experience is not counted if it is taken to complete your Bachelor´s degree and is an integral part of the degree. Also, on the NOC website they have also listed down the expected qualifications to carry out duties under particular occupation. You should also keep those in mind.

Hi all,

Let me further clarify, I have not completed CA. I did bachelor´s then qualified first two parts of CA and then join CA firm for 4 years articles. After completion of CA articles I got the job. I am applying as Bookkeeper on the basis of first two parts of CA. should I count the four years articleship when I was registered trainee student as experience required by immigration office.

Regards

Faisal.
