Munir: You do not need to provide an address when you land. If you do not have one, your IO will provide you with form to complete when you do move to Canada and acquire an address. You can then fax in the form and your PR cards will be mailed to that address.

Hi wannabecanadian: Is it ok if someone give US address instead of CANADA address? I am planning to come back to US after completing the landing process. In that case, can I give my current US address? Thanks,

Munir: Sorry, I can´t help with that information. I don´t know where you are landing, but you can look up hotel information or short stay information on the internet for the city you intend to live in. Personally, I wouldn´t give that information as your "address" or trust front desk hotel staff to handle your *very important* personal mail. Better to look for an apartment, then handle the details like PR cards, etc. It is an overwhelming process, and I wish I could be of more help to you. Perhaps someone else here can share their experience with the first weeks and how to get settled?

BS: Nope, CIC doesn´t care about your US address, and will not send PR cards outside of Canada. It is fine if you intend to return to the US after landing (and always be honest with your IO when you land about your intentions), but for your PR cards, only a Canadian address will suffice. As I mentioned, you will be given a form to complete when you do move to Canada for your cards; until you have them, you have paperwork in your passport that proves you are a landed immigrant and permanent resident of Canada. BTW: if you travel between the US and Canada after you land but before you get your cards, show customs your passport and you shouldn´t have any problems crossing the border (IF you are driving. You ARE NOT allowed to fly without your cards).

Hope this helps!
