| Subject: Funds to show/Living outside canada |

I will be landing in Canada shortly by road. Have few questions:
1. I understand that the Imiigration officer asks the funds. Does it matter if the funds is less than what was mentioned at the time of application. For e.g the funds in cash I am taking is US$4000.00 instead of taking CAD$12000 equivailent in US dollars. Will the office ask to physically show the funds or does he just want to know how much you carrying?
2. Once the immigration officer stamps on our passport, can we turn around and enter US immediately or do we have to stay for one night in Canada?
3. How long can one stay outside Canada i.e. living/working in US on H1, once you become Canadian Permanent resident?
4. Is there any restrictions on the number of days of absence from Canada who are permanent residents? Will we loose the permanent resident status if absence from Canada is longer?
5. I don´t have any relative or friend in Canada to give the mailing address for the card to arrive. Can anyone suggest how to approach this issue?

1, You must show the required proof of funds CAD 12,000 or equivalent USD. You may show a bank statement if not cash
2, You can return imediately
3, You can stay out of Canada for a total of three years out of five but not more than 2 continuous years
4, Refer 3
5, You will find someone on this forun who will be willing to receive our card and mail it to you.
If you dont get anyone, put your e-mail on this forum, I will guide you more.
