Subject: Bringing a car across US border |

Hello all,
My American fiance and I will be getting married soon and are expecting a baby. She is here in Canada right now studying, but will be returning to the states to have the baby. She will be returning to Canada at the end of the year when the baby is born and has a passport. We intend to buy a new car for her while she is down there.. When she returns she will be flying here and our current plan is for me to fly down there and drive the car up to Canada. Will there be any problems with that a the border? The car will probably only be up in Canada for a year with us.. I just want to make sure we have everything in order before hitting the border.. Any help on the subject would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

(in reply to: Bringing a car across US border) Paul,
Please clarify if the new car is to be with you permanently in Canada or not. But if you intend to keep it in Canada for a year, I´m afraid it´s considered yours and permanent. And also clarify if you´ve landed yet or not.
Normally, you would include the car on your Goods to Follow list prior to landing. Then decalre it at landing. Otherwise, if you bring the car as your permanent posession to Canada after landing, you´ll pay hefty tariffs.
