| Subject: IELTS equivalent |

Hi,
I wanted to know if there is any IELTS equivalent. After looking at couple of sites I have noticed GCSE English with a grade B in high school is equal to IELTS 7.0.
I have given GCSE english (General Certificate Of Secondary Education) from University of Cambridge (British Concil). I also have all my post-secondary education and experience from Toronto, Canada.
Do I still have to write IELTS or how likely is that if I write a letter to CIC they will EXEMPT IELTS for me?

I have seen people who did their entire schooling and postsecondary studies in English being asked for IELTS. The same goes for people who had high GRE and Toefl scores.
If you really want to avoid taking IELTS then you can go this way. Submit well written proof of English language proficiency and then wait for the IELTS request from CIC. If you do get it order CAIPS you will get to know how many points you have been awarded. Depending on the number of points you have been awarded you can decide whether to take IELTS or not.

IELTS EQUIVALENT (in reply to: IELTS equivalent)
Dear Sir,
I got (C) Credit in English language, Syllabus B, in Hong Kong Certificate of Eduction Examination 1983 and would like to know IELTS equivalent if any.

IELTS is the only test that CIC will accept. Equivalents are irrelevant.
