Subject: Security..... help...
I received my CAIPS notes with a cover letter which states in one paragraph, ? Certain information contained on the exempted pages qualify for exemption pursuant to section 21 of privacy act. Copies of the act are enclosed for ease of reference?

Section 21. The head of a government institute may refuse to disclose any personal information requested under section 12 (1) the disclosure of which could reasonably be expected to be injurious to the conduct of international affairs, the defense of Canada or any state allied or associated with Canada, as defined in subsection 15(2) of the Access to information Act, or efforts of Canada toward detecting, preventing or suppressing subversive or hostile activates, as define in section 15(2) of the Access to information act, including, without restricting the generality of the foregoing, any such information listed in paragraphs 15(1)(a) to (i) of the access to information Act. 1980-81-82-83, c. 111, sch. II ?21?

What does this mean? I have no criminal record what so ever. I?ve been living in Canada for than seven years now. First as a student and now working.

Please help.. Any suggestions??

I applied for immigration at CIC-Buffalo in April/04 but they didn?t accept my COOP work experience and only gave me 53 points..

I would really appreciate every ones help..

It basically outlines the a part of Access to Information act. Under this act authorities may exclude some information if they have valid reasons to do.

Your co-op experience as I said earlier will not be counted. I still remember there was another guy who said his lawyers have told him that it will be counted. However, I have seen a number of people applying with co-op work experience and then getting less points. The best is you update them with new work experience if you have acquired.

Send them an updated letter of reference showing you have achieved one year of continuous work experience. Job contract letter, if you have any. One main point is whether they had your documents before they did your IA. If not, then if the visa officer wants to then he may reassess your file (unlikely though not impossible).
