Subject: Extending Expected Stay
Hello, I visited Canada from the UK at the end of January at my return ticket is for March 27th. I am allowed to stay for 6 Months but I would like to stay past the 27th March and leave within 6 Months.

Do I need to call Canada Immigration to inform them of this?

From what I can remember you need to fill out a form and send it off with the application fee for an extension to stay - I may be wrong but I think I got the form off cic.gc.ca

The issue that has to be resolved where you a documented entry or an undocumented entry. Is there a date written under the stamp in your passport?

If there is a date your suppose to leave by that date.

If no date is written you have six months to leave so change your ticket.

If there is a date go to the states turn around and come back in with sufficent funds to purchase a ticket back to the UK and all will be fine. Or if your way up north apply for a CVV extension. Click on the blue box applications and forms from within Canada, visitor and apply for an extension.

Roy is correct.

I am applying for my spousal immigration and I also travelled from the UK to Montreal and applied for an extension of my visa.

As per my discussion with the CIC agent she warned me stating that if I stayed past 6 months without an extension it would directly affect my immigration application. So I made the neccessary application and applied for an extension.

My reply should be with me next week.
