  Hello,

Im an australia citizen and want to study in Canada.

Some people recommended me Centennial Collage located in Toronto. However, I want to know if its really good college?

Also, does a 3 year deploma in Advertising or computer programming of any value? If yes, what do you think will be the average salary of I can get in Canada after doing this deploma.

Sorry for asking so many questions.

Thanks in advance,
Mike

Are you serious?

Any further education institute that isn´t a university is generally not well known outside the area you are looking at. A few exception include places like BCIT, HEC, etc (Google them, you´ll see). And even some of the universities are less well known, although generally the quality is pretty good compared to some places I have seen coming from the UK.

Does a 3 year diploma have any value? In which country? From which country? In Canada diplomas only really have a value if they´re from Canada and if it´s a degree. College diplomas will only get you so far.

The average salary would depend where you want to work. You have to remember that the job market is extremely competitive in Canada so if you definitely want a job here, do something health care related as there is ALWAYS a need for that. Lots of people have degrees from good universities in computer programming (or even advertising, I guess, but that´s more of a college thing than a university thing).

You also have to remember how expensive it is for international students. Your best bet is to go to Quebec where it is cheaper... but I wouldn´t want to pay for 4 years (oh yes, more degrees or post highschool ecducation are four years here, 3 years is looked upon a little strangely) for a degree (or diploma, worse still) from a college most people won´t have heard of.

Sorry but this is just being frank.

Thanks a lot mate. Appreciate it a lot.

But at the end of the day, Do you think it will be worth coming to toronto (I dont have other option) and doing a 3 year diploma and getting a job?

It will cost me atleast $50,000 for the 3 year diploma(including living expenses, eating etc) and I would be able to earn around $30,000 through part time jobs during this time hopefully.

one more thing, what do you think on average can a person which bachelors degree earn in ontario?

It could be bachelors of arts(communication) or bachelors of computer science. Just need an estimate.

Hiya,

No, it´s not worth it. If it isn´t a degree, not from a well known place, not 4 years and it´s not in something ´Canada´ really needs, I wouldn´t risk that much money in trying. You´re not even guaranteed PR at the end so who says you could stay in Canada and work anyway? If you want to go to Toronto and do something there are other ways. Try the working holiday visa. If the fixation for Toronto is romance related, get PR that way (muuuuch easier).

What the average person earns in Toronto vastly depends on the type of degree, their connections and networking. It´s not like the UK (and maybe Oz?) in which almost anyone can do anything with a degree. If you don´t have the specific knowledge here, then you can´t work in that field. So it´s not the same for communications as for computer science. There are tons of computer scientists and you have to be extremely lucky to do well in communications (I know, there´s a girl in my class who´s a TV presenter and she´s sick of getting pushed around so she´s retraining). If you are lucky you can get maybe $50,000 CAN. Obviously that varies a LOT but nothing is guaranteed even when you graduate with that diploma. I suggest you come over and check it out for yourself even if it is only on holiday.

I have to say that you´ve taken this pretty well - just trust me that it is extremely hard to set up a life here even as a student (especially as one - and I´m a PR, must be much harder for international ones). But, it is worth it if you really want it. Don´t you have any options in Australia at all?!...
