Hi I am new to this site and have a question.
I am currently living in the States with my boyfriend and I am a Canadian citizen. I can only stay here for another 3 months before my 6 month allowed stay as a Canadian citizen is up. He wants to move to Canada with me so what is our first step to doing this? Obviously we want to come back to Canada together and not be apart for a second. I have children and we have known each other for 8 months now and my children have become very attached to him to say the least. What I am trying to say is that we are a family now and would love for it to stay this way.

You can try to sponsor him as your common-law partner once you guys complete one year as common-law partners.

However long you have been living with him won´t be enough for you to sponsor him as common law. It sounds like maximum you´ll have been with him is 6 months, but as the previous poster stated, you have to have been living together with proof in a relationship for 12 before you can sponsor as common law. You can try and get him back to Canada on a tourist visa for the remaining 6 months (he won´t be able to work, obviously) and then apply for common law PR after the 12 months is up, extending his status as a visitor at the same time (he shouldn´t lose his status in Canada or you can´t get PR).
The only other alternative if you don´t want to be apart is to get married!
