Subject: For Roy: AOR cancelled - file under investigation
  Hi Roy!

Beleive it or not, my FEB 23 "do not disturb" date that appeared on my AOR letter was cancelled. I received an e-mail on Monday.

The criminal report that we submitted to CIC with our package came out clean and my husband (he is Cuban) never had any problems with justice. What ticks me is that the AOR letter stated that nothing was required and that our "do not disturb date" was Feb. 23. I up-dated my file with new employer info in December and gave them a visit in January. Did I upset them? Maybe. While at the Embassy, I insisted (with a smile) that the lady go check out where our file was at. I asked her if by any chance, our file was ready to be approved, if there was any possibility that they could issue the visa while I was in town. She did go in the back to check and did not seem angry or bothered. She came back and told us it wasn´t ready and that it could take a while, but that it was under the "normal process". Was it my doing this that propped the e-mail? Again maybe.

He visited an older female friend in Italy in the year 2000 for 50 days on a three months visitor´s visa, he did his 2 years military service as a soldier and drives a bici-taxi. I spoke to the professionnal here in Montreal (Mariella Diaz) who put our file together, and it´s sounds unusual to her as she´s never had any of her customers going thru this. The e-mail stated three reasons that can slow down the process: a) security interview, b) the need to submit additionnal papers, c) more extensive investigation. They said that in our case, they will not be able to process our file in the timeframe stated in our AOR letter (Feb. 23) because: More extensive investigations of your "background" are necessary. They said: "We understand your desire to be reunited immediately with your family but each and every steps of the process takes a certain time. In order to be able to process your file faster, we ask you not to send any request of information in the meantime. If an interview is necessary or if an investigation of your "ant?c?dents" is required, the process of your file will take much more time and it is right now impossible for us to give you an approximate date a this stage. You will be contacted as soon as your file will be completed."

What can I expect, your valuable opinion is seeked.

I am very disappointed, upset and of course, powerless...

It sucks.

So sorry to hear this France. Make sure your "professionalhere in Montreal" is an authorized representative still.

Read the manuals IP9 from 7.7 to the end and flip over to the enforcement manuals where they quote those particular sections regarding misrepresentation.
