Subject: Vienna office, when to expect first letter?
  Hi all.

I am probably just impatient but I was wondering if anyone has information how long you have to wait for the first letter (probably request of documents) when applying for PR to the Vienna office.

I applied early September 2006 (waited few weeks for the simplified process to start). On the CIC website the only status showing is that they started processing on 15 Sep 2006.

More than 4 months later I have still not received anything except the initial confirmation that they received the application.

The Vienna office processing times state 30% finalized in 5 months, 50% in 9 months so I was kind of hopeful after 4 months at least to receive a letter requesting me to send the documents.

Or can they skip this? But I guess they definitely will want to see the degree and references.

The process sounds quite long even after I send them the documents so I am a bit nervous about not receiving any letter yet.

Any experiences about the waiting times in the queue before they start even looking at your application (send you the letter to request documents)?

Thanks in advance. Cheers. Darko.

Hi canader, thanks for the reply.

Sorry, bit what is AOR?

I only received a letter confirming they have received my application/form and a receipt confirming the payment I made.

Nothing else. As I said it has been just over 4 months since applying and that is approx the time I was told by friends to expect some first contact.

Cheers
Darko.

a person on www.immigration.ca/discussion applied to vienna in april or may 2006...she just got her visa approved, so it took about 8-9 months for the whole process

Hi, the letter confirming they have received your application is called Acknoledgement of Receipt or AOR. I have applied as FSW at Vienna Office last July 2006 and haven´t heard anything about my application since then. In my AOR, it stated that it will take 12 months to process my permanent residence application so I still have 4 mos. to wait.Hope this can help.

Hmmm... This is a bit dissapointing. I know applying for these visas (PR) is not exact science and you don´t know the date you will get your visa, but the previous two posts reported quite different situations.

One application from april/may 2006 was finalized by now, and another from july 2006 not even replied to yet.

Plus, these application were made the ´old´ way which at least leaves the opportunity someone to be working on your application (considering your documents).

For people that applied after Sep 2006 they need to get a letter with the list of documents to send, and I am still not sure how soon the visa office starts to work on those documents when they receive them. So in reality it´s like another step being added in this ´simplified application process´.

I hope I´ll get that letter soon because I know for a fact that no one is working on the application as it is. Not until they receive documents from me which can´t happen before they let me know what exactly to send.

And to add to the confusion, the CIC website claims visa processing times are updated weekly and the Vienna office still has 30% finalized in 5 months, 50% in 9 months.

To finalize an application in 5 months with the new simplified application process means basically they would need to send you the letter requesting documents immediately after they receive the application, otherwise there is no time to finish everything in 5 months. And they claim for 30% they do that, that´s one in three.

All of this simply doesn´t add up... :)

Cheers.
Darko.

Hi Darko,

finalizing means unfortunately also rejecting! Anyway, we have received our AOR in January. Expected processing time 24-36 months!!! Oh God!
