Subject: Address and SIN office - Questions before Landing
I am planning to land next month.

I would like to land in Toronto and complete my paper works at Toronto itself. (I am in USA and Toronto is at a driving distance from my place.)

But my address will be at Alberta. (I need the PR card and all mails to go there)

Will the SIN office in Toronto accept people who shows an address in Alberta?

First, you can land in any province, but not in Quebec.

If you drive from the US to Canada, you will have to "land" at the point of entry into Canada, ..at the land border. You can only land in Toronto (the city) if you come in by airplane, but otherwise you will already have had "landed" as a PR at the US-Canada border, so when you reach Toronto you will already be a PR.

When you land you will provide an address where they will send the PR cards, which can be anywhere in Canada, even in Alberta.

I am not sure about the answer to the SIN office question.

Good luck and smooth landing!

PS - Maybe you come back and tell us how your landing was.

Good News: You can apply from anywhere in Canada for a SIN, even if you live in a different province. Just fill out the form and provide the address where the card is supposed to be mailed. There are some 9 offices in Toronto alone.
