Subject: Help needed!
  Hello friends..

I am a student in UK . My nationality is Indian. I would like to know if I can apply from UK for the canadian immigration. If so..what is the duration for the visa processing. I would be really grateful if you can help me to sort out this! Any sort of opinions are welcome and would be appreciated.

Best Regards

Ziyad!

Ziyad,

My assumption is that you would like to apply for Canadian Permanent Residence under the federal skilled worker program. In this case, in addition to your automatic ability to apply via the India route, you can also apply from the UK IF you were lawfully admitted in the UK for at least one year.

If your student visa in the UK is/was valid for 1 year or more, OR if you have already resided in the UK for at least one year you can apply through London.

Processing times for London, as of Oct.11 2006, were between 26-54 months. For India they would be 63-69 months.
You can find the most up-to-date processing times here:

Good Luck!

ROY or UNIDEN, PLS HELP!!! (in reply to: Help needed!)
We had our medicals done last Oct.13. Today I got an email from CIC Buffalo stating that our applicatio is still under active consideration. They need the complete results of our medical examinations. I talked to the nurse that we went to and she told me that our medical was signed and received by Oct.30 (Ottawa). What should we do? Do we need to re-do our medical?. The whole family is being frustrated because of the letter. Thanks so much for your help.

Wrong place to post jonny, lolz.
Uniden, so you meant that One can apply from both the places (2 applications) ??

"in addition to your automatic ability to apply via the India route, you can also apply from the UK IF you were lawfully admitted in the UK for at least one year"

PLEASE Elaborate !!

Jnathan,

Sorry about the misunderstanding, I re-read my own words and you are right, it could be interpreted that way..

In fact, you have to decide which country you apply from. Choose the one OR the other. If you qualify, you can apply from either one, but not from both simultaneously.

So let me rephrase:
"As an alternative to your automatic ability to apply via the India route, you can apply from the UK IF you were lawfully admitted in the UK for at least one year".

Sorry about the inconvenience.

Uniden
