Subject: Dependent son landing later
I have the canadian PR and am planning to land next month with my family. My deadline to land is Dec 14th. I have a question - if my son needs to finish his school year and does not land with us (my husband, me and daughter), what happens? He would probably lose his PR I suppose. Can I still sponsor him after I land? I would prefer it if he can finish his school year in June. How easy or difficult is it to do that? Also, if it is possible to do that, how long is does the process take?

he needs to land by December 14. There is nothing to stop him from returning home after landing to complete his schooling. I would that that preferable to letting his PR application die and starting again. It could prove riskly and no less expense than a return plane ticket.

Definitely have him "land" with you, the process takes all of a half hour of so. He can immediately go back to finish his schooling and then come live in Canada later. No reason to waste your hard-won approval.
