Subject: Language testing results
Hi folks - I need your expertise in figuring out the response I received from CIC, Buffalo.

Am a work permit holder working in Toronto and I submitted a PR application to Buffalo office about a month ago with all necessary documentation. My application was returned stating I need to produce documents if I am claiming points for language skills. And, they specifically mentioned language test results from CELPIP or IELTS. I had in my application submitted an attested copy(notorized copy) of my IELTS score. Could it have been overlooked or are they asking for something else?

Unfortunately, they haven´t stated the exact reason. They simply mention that I need to submit document.

Any thoughts? Has anyone in the past have had similar communication?

Thanks a lot in advance,
S

SA,

What is the exact wording of CIC´s request?
Why I am asking this, is because normally CIC only accepts IELTS originals. Same with transcripts sent in an envelope sealed by the university. Maybe I am wrong about this, ..it´s just a hunch.

Hi - Thanks for your reply.
The letter is in 3 parts. One just says that my application didn´t meet the applciation acceptance criteria. The second says that I need to submit required documentation and checks the field for language assessment from designated instituition if I am claiming language skills. And further instruction says - "We accept results of English language testing from only two organizations and the results of French lang testing from only one organizations. You can consult their web pages for location of their testing centers and the dates of scheduled tests."

I am beginning to think that it was perhaps returned because I had last given the test on Jan-2005. Is there an validity period for the test score?

Thanks,
S

SA,

as far as I know, for CIC purposes IELTS is valid for 1 year.

Thanks, Uniden.

Isn´t IELTS result something they ask for much later in the process? Why am I being asked to show the result even before acceptance?

Also, there is a # written on my application. Could it be a reference number or am I not in the queue yet?

Thanks once again.
