Subject: Landing - car and recalls
  Hi,
I´m planning to land in Ontario as a Skilled Worker next Monday (10/30) and plan to take my car. I got the required letter from the manufacturer to see if there are any recalls on the car, and the letter states that there is a recall on one of the rear speakers in the car´s sound system. The RIV website says that "if your vehicle does have a recall you will need to complete all repairs required." Does this apply even when the repair is something minor like a speaker? I don´t have time to go get the speaker repaired before I leave and don´t want to delay my trip for something so minor. Any advice on this would be appreciated. Thanks!

It only applies if your car manufacturer had issued an official recall for your vehicle due to a defect. This you can find out by contacting the manufacturere and provided your vehicle´s VIN number. RIV requires a clearance letter for every imported vehicle. The manufactureer will send you this letter if you request it and if the vehicle is clear of recalls or had the vehicle inspected and/or repaired if there was a recall.
