Subject: Health card
  Hi,

I landed in Canada before 4 months and left with in few days. Due to personal reasons, I can´t return for another 2-3 months. I couldn´t apply the health card then. When I come, if I apply and wait for 3 months can I get it? Would there be any problem? Or does it has to be applied as soon as I landed?

Pls. clarify.

It is no problem with your health card. Actually you need to be resident in the province to apply for that card. If ya got the maple card, that´s all you need till you actually land to live in Canada.

To qualify for health coverage (health card), you´re supposed to be living in the province that provides you that coverage and have a valid address there.

In Ontario, for example, you must be physically present for 153 out of 183 days after establishing residency. In addition, you have to be in Ontario for at least 153 days in any 12 month period.

So in your case for Ontraio at least, you would not qualify for a health card being gone for 2-3 months. Once you return and stay, you would.
