Subject: Smooth Landing Experience....
  HI Huys,

Finally I landed in MOntreal on Sep 30, 2006.I would like to share my landing experience. It might help you guys who is planing for landing.
I surfed so many websites, and posted so many questions to know what are the documents needed for Landing.

Let me explain you 1 by 1:

Documents needed:- Valid Passport,Landing Documents , CSQ certificate(for Quebec applicant...not required but its good to carry with you)
and Proof of funds(Bank Statements or Travel Cheque or Demand Draft) and little Cash in Hand approximately $500 I Suggest thats what I had with me.

Proof of Funds:

I use to have so many questions concern to showing proof of funds at the time of landing .Every body has their own answeres like get DD of your amount,Make travel cheque
for safe side or open account in Canada bank if you are in US.I know all these options make sense but if you had money in account(any bank) just
take bank statements for last 3 months. You wont belive that they just ask me how much money you are bringing into vcanada with you. I said $$ she said fine. She did not
even look at my bank statements.Actually we worry lot for nothing thats what I learn from this experience. So my suggestion is take bank statements which is easy option
if possible for you.

going through Customs:

Once I cleared from Immigration they ask me to go throuhg customs to know that what I am bringing with me to The Canada.I told them Acctually I am working
in USA so I did not brought all my stuff then she ask me to fill out one form with rest of you are stuff whcih planing to bring in to canda. Then I filled form
with my stuff details (Tv,Furniture,Car,Clothes) She said if I do this then I wont be get charge custom fee for these Items.By the way I landed by air.

Happy Ending :

After That She said Welcome to Cananda !!!! Thats it Now I became Permanent Resident Of canada....I know How hard it is to know what are the things we have
take care before we land.I think it might help you guys for Smooth Landining Gudluck ........Nani

you can apply canadian immgration in 2 ways.
1.Getting GC from Canadian Fedal process directly(Normally it takes time to get approve)
2.Quebec immigration. If you apply in second category then they will call for interview and they will issue a CSQ certificate so that u can apply for fedral process with this CSQ certificate but u should know french to qualify for this category. This procee will take less time.
Thanks,
Nani

Hi,

Can you please give us your timeline?

And your experience with the CSQ interview? Is French knowledge important for your spouse as well?

Thank you for posting this very helpful information. I´ve just sent in our passports for stamping and hope to land by the end of October (then return back to the US to wrap things up). I also have so many concerns and worries about all the details; this really helped. Thanks again for taking the time to post your experience, and best of luck to you in your new life in Canada! :)
