Canadian border guards at several crossings in the Lower Mainland of B.C. have walked off the job in response to a security scare.
CTV Vancouver reported Sunday night that lineups at four crossings into Canada are massive.
Managers with the Canada Border Services Agency are trying to staff the post, but Canada-bound traffic is just trickling across.
The situation started when U.S. authorities reported that a suspected killer from California might try to cross the Canadian border.
Canada´s border guards are currently unarmed -- the Conservative government has promised a 10-year program to change that -- and have the right to walk off the job if conditions are dangerous.
